What you can bring into Georgia duty-free
When you enter Georgia, most personal belongings come in tax-free — within limits. If you bring more, you must declare it, or you risk a fine or confiscation.

The allowances are set by Article 199 of the Tax Code and apply only to personal use — not to goods for sale. Above the limit, you declare the goods and pay tax.
Bringing in or taking out up to GEL 30,000 in cash (or the equivalent in foreign currency) is free. Larger amounts must be declared — failing to do so is punished by a fine or confiscation (Customs Code, Article 169).
Allowances
| What | Duty-free |

| Food | Up to GEL 500 and 30 kg, once a day |
| Cigarettes, tobacco | 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars, or 200 heated-tobacco sticks / 10 capsules, or 250 g of tobacco |
| Spirits | 1 litre over 22% or 2 litres of weaker drink |
| Wine and beer | 4 litres of wine and 16 litres of beer |
| Vape liquid | 50 ml in total |
| Cash | Up to GEL 30,000 — no declaration needed |
Returning from abroad and moving to Georgia
- After more than 6 months abroad, you can bring in goods worth up to GEL 15,000 duty-free on return (except vehicles)
- When moving to Georgia permanently — furniture, household goods and one vehicle per family; this must be confirmed by a Ministry of Justice document
Vapes and e-cigarettes
Bringing a vape for personal use isn't banned. A traveller can bring in duty-free 50 ml of vape liquid in total and 200 heated-tobacco sticks or 10 capsules (Tax Code, Article 199). The device itself counts as ordinary goods within the general allowance. Liquid above the limit pays excise of GEL 1.20 per ml. Nicotine liquid ordered by parcel can't use the GEL 300 exemption — it counts as a tobacco product.
Medicines
Medicines have separate rules, and some carry a criminal risk — see 'Bringing medicines into Georgia'.
If you exceed the limit
Bringing in goods worth up to GEL 3,000 while bypassing customs control means a GEL 1,000 fine and/or confiscation for an individual, GEL 3,000 if repeated (Article 168). Above that — 100% of the goods' value or confiscation, and over GEL 15,000 a smuggling case is possible.
