# Accepting an inheritance in Georgia from abroad

A family member has died in Georgia and you live abroad? You can accept the inheritance without coming — the key is not to miss the 6-month deadline.

An inheritance must be accepted within 6 months of its opening — as a rule, the date of death. The application to the notary can be filed through a representative. If you missed the deadline for a valid reason, a court can restore it.
We prepare the power of attorney text, gather the documents, obtain the certificate of inheritance and register the property in your name with the Public Registry. If the heirs disagree, we represent you in court.
